Relevant ’11 Giveaway & Top Ten List

I interrupt this scheduled program of figuring out ISTP & ENTJ for a breather into the world of a conference I will be flying across the country in just 15 days.  That’s right, doesn’t 11 hours of travel sound blissful to a SAHM? And although I will miss my little family, I know for sure that I will soak up this time for myself.

I’m joining in on the link-up at Brooke’s blog, where we let our Relevant roomie know the Top 10 things they should know about us.

I also wanted to do a little giveaway for ladies attending Relevant ’11 & thought this would be an easy one to incorporate.

What My Relevant Roomies Should Know About Me?

  1. I don’t require much time to get ready.  Translates into low maintenance.
  2. I tend to stay up a little later than I should; as a result, I don’t wake up on the bright side of the bed.
  3. I can make a mean Mexican laugh.
  4. I will most likely be trying to figure out your Myers-Briggs to best understand you.
  5. I’m a foodie. I absolutely love food & I’m not one of those girls who is shy about enjoying this blessed of gifts.
  6. I’m a very inquisitive person & a people watcher.
  7. I feel deeply, I care deeply & think deeply–tis blessing & curse.
  8. I love Farmer’s Markets & Joe’s Garden.
  9. I have a knack for storytelling, but I’m horrible at delivering the punch line of a joke.
  10. I believe true hospitality is the answer to the world’s problems (blessing to the nation).

The Giveaway!

I am coming from Washington.  Something indicative of the Pacific Northwest is it’s an artisan capital (I’m not speaking of Myers-Briggs); rather, it’s a collection of people who have a skill & do it well.  We have our seamstresses, farmers, chocolatier, chefs, painters, bread makers, coffee roasters, wineries, brewers, etc.  It’s the land of micro brews, best coffee to come by picking up of citrus, blueberries in a cup of joe, & the nature enthusiast.

And what better giveaway then giving you a slice of my little corner in Bellingham, WA, where the community communes at Railroad on Saturday morning to for the Farmer’s Market, hikes in the morning at Mt. Baker & takes a walk on the water in the evening.  It is truly my favorite of all places & I think Eden must have been like it.

You have a chance of winning one of two items…

 1. My favorite local coffee from Bellingham Bay Roasters Company.  I drink it either Americano style or pour over method.  My favorite one is Peru with it’s lemony notes & subtle after tones.  Latin American soil & drying methods are different from African soil & methods.  This Peru coffee is indicative of smooth body, medium blend having more of the citrusy notes & a bit of chocolate.  And they sell their coffee in a reusable tin. You could win this!

 2. My favorite local chocolate is from Chocolate Necessities.  They have beautifully decorated, handcrafted truffles that I love.  There Grand Marnier, or Marzipan, or chocolate caramel.  It’s just ethereal & I know chocolate will be at the great feasting table.

To win, leave a comment & tell me about you & answering this question:

1. What do you find the essential ingredients when you bring to the table? Who you are or anything else you want to add.

Closes October 25th at midnight PST.  Winner announced on October 26th.

  1. Kamille,For more reasons than having coffee and chocolate as some of our favorite things, I cannot wait to meet you at Relevant! I really want to win those chocolates!Essential ingredients to bring to the table in my opinion I'd say are fresh ground pepper…I tend to think the taller the grinder, the better it tastes (this is of course ridiculous, but I think it feels special.) And another thing to bring to the table I think is an open heart of joyful hospitality….which I have been seriously studying lately. I too agree that lots of the world's problems could be solved with more genuine hospitality.I am honestly so excited to meet you in person friend!!! Less than 2 weeks now!!!

  2. The essential ingredient at my table is my family. Any time we can all be together (which isn't often with my husband's schedule) it doesn't matter what else we have, it's perfect. I can't wait for Relevant. It's my first conference!

  3. Concrete – garlic! There is almost nothing that doesn't taste better with garlic…well…um…okay…you know what I mean.Abstract – REAL-ness – I think the more honest, open, and transparent we can be as people/friends, the better relationships we have and a happier life.Wish I could meet you/hang out with you at Relevant! I am only a few hours away!! Maybe next year!

  4. I have wee folks at our house, so a wet dishtowel is probably the most consistent guest at our dinner table! Ha! Abstractly, it's all about the conversation for us. Whether its connecting with a five and two year old about their morning triumphs or sharing tears with a friend. This pretty hard-core ENFP is looking forward to meeting you in Pennsylvania! See you soon!

  5. NAPKINS!! Random, right? Well I was at a dinner party where napkins were NOT on the table. For some reason my husband and I both decided to suffer through eating our SPAGHETTI rather than notify our host to their error. We certainly laughed about it a lot in the car on the way home.

  7. Concrete: Plenty. Yes, plenty of whatever I'm serving. I come from a long line of Southern women and we are pretty sure that we can make almost anything better with plenty of good, home cooked food. And dessert is NOT optional. (And although I am the black sheep in my iced coffee over iced tea preference, I still end up with sweet tea when I go back home.)Abstract: Listening ears and loving heart. They go hand in hand with "making everything better." Matthew 10:42PS what a lovely give-away!! Looks soooo yummy!

  8. Well after reading through all these comments, I don't think I have much more to add…I was going to say… garlic and bacon is good in just about every green veggie dish… abstract… patience and a mindset to serve… (lots of little ones to help)! 🙂 We love the little Devotional "Get Wisdom"by Ruth Younts … our new fav! And of course the BIBLE is always on the table!

  9. Concrete ~ napkins. Lots of them. And then Grace….lots of it {especially when all of the napkins need to be used}. :)Hopefully we'll get to 'meet' at Relevant, but I know from last year that it's a crazy-good busy time and there are ladies everywhere!! Hope that it is a wonderful time for you!!

  10. Sincerity and NapkinsI can not deal with anyone that is artificial and salesman like. I want "real" people at my table and around me. I some times have difficulty finding this even in our Christian community. Everyone wants to look perfect inside and out. Let's just be sincere I say!And I have to have a napkin…doesn't matter if it is paper or cloth. I just can not eat without one. I am either messy or just can't stand food particles on my face! One of my pet peeves…eating at a table with no mouth wiper!ps….can't wait to be figured out by you. After 46 years I can't even figure myself out! Can't wait to meet you, my friend. May I just say, yummy, yummy….chocolate and coffee!

  11. Lovelovelove your list!! I love all things food too, and I think it's wonderful that you care and think so deeply. I know what you mean about it being a blessing and a curse, but more blessing, I think…And an essential ingredient to the table is giggles and chubby cheeks. If I were bringing something to a meal, it would need to have lots of color. I love color in my food!!

  12. Hey, another PNW-er here — I'll be heading to Relevant from Southern Oregon. A long way to go without knowing a soul, but I am *so* thrilled to go. What a wonderful giveaway. My essential ingredients at the table? Laughter. Grace. Anything full of carbohydrates or sugar. 🙂 Looking forward to meeting you there!

  13. Always bring food & faith to the table. I'm learning, and this is hard for a long-time foodie to say, but what you serve isn't nearly as important as how you serve it! That said, fresh herbs, simple, local grown produce, and a fruit filled dessert are always bonuses at any table! Can't wait to see you at Relevant!

  16. Real butter. 🙂 I grew-up on Crisco and my husband introduced me to the real deal. Can't go back. So…butter and openness/flexibility. It's about the people, not food. Something I have to remind myself. 🙂

  17. Hmmm, something about me…I'm quirky, rather short, love food as well, and would love to visit Washington someday…it sounds like it shares some of the wonderful attributes that Michigan has as well, but with a slightly different climate. ;)Essential "ingredient" to bring to the table…God, family and conversation. I really think it brings and keeps parents/children/siblings/spouses closer, and more unified. 😀
