What’s Your Personality Type?

If I’m meeting you for the first time and we begin talking; I’m already trying to figure out who you are and how you think.  Essentially, I’m deducing whether you’re an introvert or extrovert, intuition or sensing, feeling or thinking, judging or perceiving on the Myers-Briggs scale.  I believe it is essential to know who you are, in order to live to your God-given potential.  Life is too short to play to your weaknesses, or try to work at them endlessly.  I’m a proponent of playing to one’s strengths & being confident in them.

It can be rather difficult for me to accept me for me.  Too see that my strengths are my assets & stop wishing I was less of me and more of someone else.  This is why understanding my core & others is so vital to everyday life.  When I observe my girls, I take note of the ways they think, respond, order & verbalize their world.  My Tayers is definitely an extrovert, while V is more introverted.  Knowing this alone enables me to understand them and give them room to be who they were created to be.

My personality type is defined as ENFJ.  Extroverted, I(N)tution, Feeling, Judging.  I’m under the category of Idealist.  An Idealist is anyone with the combination of N & F.  My personal combination labels me as “Teacher.”  While Ben is an ISFJ, which puts him under the category of Guardian, due to the S & J in his profile.  The other two categories are NT (Rationals) & SP (Artisans).

One trait characteristic of an NF, (specifically an ENFJ) is their love of personality tests. So, when someone says, “Wow Kamille, you know a lot about Myers-Briggs stuff,” and Ben is around, he is sure to say, “And the thing about Kamille’s Myers-Briggs type is her uncanny ability to identify others Myers-Briggs (& interest in them).'”

If you’ve never taken a test to see where you fall, you will find the link for one below.  Go and take the test, come back and comment with your results.  If you have any questions, let me know.  Knowing you is key in knowing how to extend hospitality, which allows you to give yourself more grace & others as well.

Take the Test!

Info on the test:

  • Don’t overthink it.
  • If you are spending over five seconds on a question, move on & come back
  • If you don’t understand a word, move on & come back

Now, take the Test!

  1. I came out as an ISFJ. Interesting and from the description, it sounds correct. Hmmm. I did a personality test years ago but hadn't done one since. Thanks for the link!

  2. Paige I totally would have guessed you as an ISFJ. What a fabulous personality type, although I'm biased with Ben being the same:)

  3. I scored an ISFJ today. I'm totally on the line between E and I, so different times in my life I have showed up as an ESFJ or an ISFJ. Since I work from home all by myself, it feeds my introverted side. I can speak to 4,000 at an event, but a roomful of 40 strangers at a party is intimidating and exhausting. Have you stayed the same over the years? – Ginger

  4. Ginger—the first time I took a Myers-Briggs test was in high school I was borderline E&I and borderline P&J. I was less borderline with the E than the J, which is still true to now. Some of the ENFP profile fits me, but the ENFJ is a bit more accurate to my core. When I worked prior to having my girls, my job required me to be supervisor of people & operations, so when taking the test I came out as an ENTJ, but that's not really me.

When I read about NF's as children, it fits who I was with an uncanny accuracy. It's so funny how you can speak in front of 4,000, but smaller groups intimidate you. Not so much funny, but I see this a lot with people who can easily converse with the smaller group but get terrified with the larger group (that would be my mom). I can understand both:)

  5. Amy Jane–

I think it's NF part in us that loves analyzing M-B. Isn't it interesting how other personality types sound more appealing at times? thanks!

  6. Too funny, Kamille! Jonathan and I (as well as David and Shelly Weiser) are the same as you and Ben! Meyers-Briggs is always a topic of conversation when Shelly and I get together. I didn't know you were into it too! That's fun, and I totally agree with your assessment of the importance of knowing others' personalities. Thanks for sharing!

    From Kamille:

Liz thanks for commenting. Are you the ISFJ or ENFJ?

  7. ESTJ…a bit different from college, but some answered were swayed due to having 4 children now. 🙂 I think I was an ENTJ in college. 🙂

From Kamille: Jolanthe, thanks for participating. NT & SJ are quite different. What did you major in? It's interesting to me to see people take the test at one point in life and be some completely different at another point in life. I see this happens depending on the job we are in.

  8. Kamille, Thanks for you encouragement on taking the personality test. I took it a little while back, but took it again and it turned out slightly different. I think it's because I'm getting to know myself a little bit better each time!

I came out as a INFP. Idealist Healer. This is so intriguing to me as I'm considering what to pursue career-wise.Love it!~Anna

    From Kamille:

Anna, I can totally see you as INFP. I hope finding more of who God has created you to be will cause you to dream big & desire so much of his goodness.

  9. ESFP…A little on, but I always get the "outgoing" stuff, but I'm fairly sure I'm an introvert at heart. 🙂

    From Kamille:

Lindsey I think this could be very true!

  10. ESFJ…but only "slightly" and "moderate". Pretty much it was right on. I think it's great to know your own strengths and weaknesses. Thanks for sharing!

    From Kamille:

I can see you as an SJ for sure. What letters were slight or moderate? thanks for sharing too!

  11. ESFP=The S and P were pretty low percentages (Maybe it was the F, not the P… Not sure, took it last night) but the description sounds spot on! Fun post!

    From Kamille:

I could see this in you, but I could also see you as an NF. Either way, I love you all the same!

  12. i took one last night and scored ENTP, but the one you linked today was INFP. the other one judged on a scale. i don't really know the ins and outs enough for it to be super meaningful, but i definitely found myself shaking my head a bit last night (especially since i'm in the process of planning a retreat and getting glimpses into how differently i operate than other people. ENTP was supposed to be just 3% of the population…)

    From Kamille:

Suzannah, I'm a NF (ENFJ) and one of the things I recommend is looking over the whole course of one's life to see the whole of it. When I look at the general NF profile & see what that looks like as a child, I'm certain that NF fits me better than any of the other types. Figuring out the J/P & E/I are easy after that. An NF child has a big imagination, likely to put a character on inanimate objects, love fantasy & stories portraying a definite good versus evil (but only if the good conquered). They trust their impulses & have a hidden sense about life. They tend to think good of most people (more trusting). Very diplomatic.

I could go on & on. If that sounds like you, then INFP is probably it, which is a Healer. And their role under the Idealist group is "Advocate." An ENFP is the other advocate, just extroverted.

  13. I'm an INFJ which is especially interesting because I was an ENFJ when I took it many years ago. I guess I thought once an extrovert always an extrovert…my introvert husband has rubbed off on me. In the most pleasant of ways!

From Kamille: I notice that those husbands have a way of doing that:) thanks for commenting!

Think I might be just a LITTLE on the shy side? Does the relatively low sensing score indicate that I might have a (fleshly) tendency to be a bit insensitive to the feelings or needs of others? And the judging score indicate a tendency to be opinionated? I know that I can be both of those things … though I'm sure that those scores mean some wonderful things as well!

I enjoyed this post and your *about me.* I've subscribed and grabbed your button so I can find my way back.

  15. I got ENFJ and after reading the descriptions I'd say it's completely accurate! The thing that really struck me more though is the teaching/leading aspects reflect where I am, while the top career suggestions were ones I've been asked about doing more and more the last few years: counseling. What I'm actually working in (and finished my degree in) was at the bottom – Management.

    From Kamille:

Tammy so fun to meet another ENFJ. Maybe these are indicators that you should seek a career change? Thanks for commenting.

  16. That was fun! I knew I was an introvert, but didn't realize to what extent! The test pegged me as ISFJ.

    From Kamille:

Stacy thanks for leaving your finds:) All the ISFJ's I've met are some of the most 'gentle' people I've ever met. I can be a bit intense at times and these people remind me (simply by living their life by example and not telling me) that a gentle soul is essential. Good thing my husband is one.

  17. Apparently I'm an ISFP. This is the first time I've taken it, though once before I tried to guess what I was based on the description of each component. I can't remember what I'd guessed. I know the I and the P are pretty definite, I'm introverted for sure (though not as much when I was younger, I was much more outgoing and like being the center of attention). And I scored high on the P too. The S is iffy. Anyway, I always wonder what I'd be according to someone else, like if Billy (or even a friend, you, for example) took the test on my behalf. I suppose we all know ourselves better than others but often the way we behave is counter to our own nature or instinct….so if you're answering the questions based on your normal responses/actions and not based on your gut then where do you find the "real" you in these kinds of tests? 🙂 I always question their accuracy….perhaps because I'm not true to myself or because I'm not honest with myself…? probably just shared too much for a blog comment….oh well.

  18. Hi Kamille, This was so interesting! I am an ISFJ. Just slightly S and F, distinctly I and moderate J. I read the description and it describes me so well…I am so protective of people(especially Tad and my family), and the part about family history. From reading it this made me more aware of somethings about me!

  19. These are always so hard for me! I always want to answer with "well, it depends…" But that doesn't ever seem to be an option. I got ENFJ, but the E & N were pretty weak (22/12)- I fit in well with pieces of the explanations about the personality types, but not really the whole thing. Apparently I'm quite a J (78) , but I actually thought going into it my F (62) would be much higher. Interesting – thanks for posting!

  20. Hi Kamille! I was interested in this post because I recently discovered that my boyfriend is an ISTP, which is the exact opposite of me (ENFJ, like you.) After I found out his personality profile, everything made a loooooot more sense.

  21. Came back here not to clutter up your new thread: I no longer think I'm INFP (as I wrote above). And this matters because someone else insists I am, and my personality (?) makes me v. uncomfortable with leaving an inaccurate assertion in public.Actually, I find the INFPorINFJ.com site fascinating and only a little bit more confirming of my than my friend's assertion. If you want to apply your 6th sense to me, I'd be curious how you shake me out. I assume this isn't only request like this you'll get, though, so don't worry about it if it's not your goal to become an identifier ;o}Peace.

  23. So I just took this test and came out as ISFP. It doesn't give any more information than that, so not sure what it means to me. I'll have to keep reading your 31 days posts to figure it out. 🙂
